Don't we all? Of course, as time goes on, the more fondly we look back upon it.

Hey, maybe things went smoothly for the rest of Blinx's time at the factory :u  Not everyone needs so many game-worthy crises in their lives.

I'd imagine the most adventurous of time sweepers would get a little bored. But then again, no one wants the Time Factory destroyed again.

I guess it could depend on how time sweepers are perceived.  After a few particular incidents, it's probably gotten something of a reputation as a pretty big deal and something of a dangerous job, but it seems like a pretty mundane "time janitor" thing otherwise.  They have all that fancy training for a reason, though (as you don't have a cannon fire at you without one), so maybe it is thought of as pretty serious.  That'd probably attract some more adventurous individuals, I suppose.

But hey, less drama with the Tom-Toms means less of a chance of having a winterfield round through your skull, so I think it'd go over well with the majority.

A list by Blinx:
WAYS I HAVE DIED
✓ Drowning
✓ Shot by a winterfield
✓ Frozen to death
and so on...

Kinda forgot about how unfortunate some of the stuff that can happen to Blinx is, like all those giant spikes in Temple of Lost Time.  The worst part isn't that they exist, but that at least a few definitely actually happened to him :u

Between that and the Tom-Tom weaponry, it gets a tad grim.  I'm guessing being a sweeper isn't the most popular job.

Being a time sweeper isn't like any other hero where they instantly go to the checkpoint. They can die countless times, retain knowledge and live through it all.

DEATH IS GREAT :D

I had a lot of time for thinking today and spent some time dwelling on that, actually.  I pondered just what kind of job being a sweeper is - while BLiNX 1 made it out to be rather mundane when not dealing with crises like B1Q64, the training that everyone apparently receives in BLiNX 2 makes me think that being a sweeper must be a pretty big deal.  We never see any real higher rank than a sweeper in the series, at least in regards to field work (which would mean operators and the CEO would be excluded), and I had a few thoughts about the guards you see as Tom-Toms.

The guards, as I realized, don't have the pleasure of using retries for whatever reason.  I see no reason why they wouldn't if they couldn't (and that's ignoring all the pondering I had about how retries are even activated, since the user may be physically incapable of using one when they need it - I kind of settled on "activated manually in a drastic situation (like falling into a bottomless pit)" and "activated automatically in response to certain trauma (non-survivable temperatures, forces strong enough to incapacitate, etc.)" - sure, an operator might activate a retry remotely in BLiNX 2, but Blinx seems to be going solo in the first game, so he's somehow triggering them himself), so it seems clear that they're just not equipped with any.  In fact, you see the guards use no time controls at all, although the guards later in the game are beefed up with better armour, time "shields," and mechanical companions, so I'm guessing that they're simply not given sweepers or whatever else because they aren't adequately trained.  A guard for the Time Factory is probably one step below a sweeper, then, in regards to field work.

It seems kind of sucky for both the guards and the sweepers: guards can't reverse physical damage to themselves, whereas sweepers are put through what might be some rather extreme training, as they're expected to be the best out of literally anybody at what they do, and will very possibly experience a variety of deaths.  It actually seems pretty dramatic in regards to what a sweeper has to be able to do, honestly, since they're the absolute last line of defence against an apocalyptic event, either for a single world or for every world.  I kind of want that idea to be explored.

(fuck I did it again)
